FYI:   Remember our tithes, which show our faithfulness to God, are based on 10% of your wage or income & offerings have no percentage because it symbolizes the unlimited love for Christ. ---The Nursery, located in the foyer across from the kitchen, is open for parents needing a private place to feed or change their babies. The Toddler “Time-Out” Room is located in the Beginners classroom during the church service. There are monitors in these rooms so parents can continue to see and hear the worship service.

If your small child would enjoy a quiet diversion during the worship service, please see one of the greeters for a children’s “Quiet Bag.” Please return the bags to the basket at the welcome table in the foyer after the worship service.

Announcements for June 18, 2011

Today, immediately following the pastoral prayer, those who would like to be part of an intercessory prayer group to pray again over the requests brought to the elder’s Bible are invited to meet in the Swahili classroom (upstairs right) with Mike Hite.

Children’s Church today! We will meet for children’s story in the sanctuary and go directly to the fellowship hall for the rest of the church service. Children ages 4 – 12 are invited to join us. If your child is under the age of 4, they are welcome to attend with a parent or adult guardian.

Meeting today for all ladies and youth who have volunteered to help with the Men’s Day Brunch – please meet with Pat Ward immediately after services by the organ for a brief organizational meeting.

All are invited to fellowship lunch after the worship service today in the fellowship hall. To expedite set-up and clean up, everyone please help as follows: kitchen duty (getting dishes in oven between Sabbath School & church, making punch, getting food on table, clean-up, etc.); set-up and clean up of chairs, tables and floors in fellowship hall.

Season of Prayer today after fellowship lunch, starting at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Around the world, Adventist Christians are praying for revival and reformation, and for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. We invite you to join us for this Sabbath afternoon session.

Men’s Day Brunch will be held on Father’s Day Sunday, June 19th at 9:30 a.m. in the church fellowship hall. Please let us know you are planning to attend so we will know how many to prepare for; sign-up sheets are available in the foyer on the table outside the kitchen door.

Scripture Study Series with Pastor Santos this Wednesday evening, June 15th at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Come join us for this exciting Bible study. Bring your Bible, pen, notebook and a friend!

Adventist Youth (AY) Ministries is launching weekly meetings starting next Sabbath, June 25thafter fellowship lunch, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. The purpose of the meetings is to help our young generation take an active part in the church, community and the work of the worldwide Adventist Youth Society in taking the Gospel to the entire world! The topic for June 18th is IDENTITY – Who Are You? Please bring food to share for fellowship lunch then stay and join us!

You are cordially invited to the wedding of Veronique Jean-Philippe and Adrian Johnson, Sr. on Thursday, June 30th at 4:00 p.m. in the First Church Sanctuary.

The Social Committee invites you to an Independence Day Block Party on Sunday, July 3, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the church. We are planning to have live music, a bounce house for the kids (parental supervision required), and yummy summer foods! Not only is this event for the church family fellowship, but we would like this to be the foundation that will grow into an annual outreach to the neighborhood around the church. We can introduce vegetarian foods, cooking school events, Vacation Bible School, Bible studies, basic SDA health principals . . . the possibilities are endless! HEAL Ministries will host a monthly meeting on Thursday, July 7th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the library. The featured topic for July is The Mind/Body Connection: What is the connection between emotions and disease, or is there any? Does your heart sense your emotional state? Is there a way out? Negative emotions can intensify a variety of health threats. Come join us and let us explore. The Adventist Community Services Center – Remember, we are responsible for keeping the following food items in stock: Canned beans (all varieties), canned tomatoes, canned fruit, canned soup, canned pasta sauce, pasta noodles (i.e. spaghetti). When we don’t do our part, others must step in and cover for us . . . Please bring in 3 or 4 cans each week to help us keep “our” shelves stocked!
