Prayer Focus for the Week 7/15/2019
Pray for your brothers and the future direction of the Men’s Ministry.
Men’s Ministry Upcoming Dates
1) Vanderbilt Move-In Day. The Nashville First Men are participating in the Vanderbilt International Student Move In. We will help Vanderbilt Student move in on August 13th from 10-4:30. If you will be able to participate we need you to sign up at the following link: https://redcap.vanderbilt.edu/surveys/?s=AYXJTJFMKW. And let us know what your shirt size is. This form must be filled out by July 29th if you will participate.
2) Nashville First Men's Day is September 14. We will be wearing our Black suits and white ties on that day. In addition the Men's chorus will sing on that day. So please be ready for a short 20 minute practice session at the end of church on this Sabbath. Also note we will be putting the program together for the men’s day program as well as those for the revival.
3) Kentucky Tennessee Men's Conference weekend is September 6-8. To all who have signed up, please put $70 dollars in a tithe envelope and write on it "KYTN Men's Conference". This ,money must be paid by the end of the month.
Devotional – Did You Pray?
The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. - James 5:16
Men. We work hard. When things pop up in our way our first inclination is to solve the issue. We seek to fix it. Ain’t nothing wrong with that. God expected Adam to till the ground by the sweat of his brow. (Gen 3:23)
But sometimes in life we find ourselves with issues that we just can’t do anything about. The work is beyond us. We may be visited by sickness. And we can’t do much about it. The car breaks down right before an important trip that you need to make. Or maybe the water heater gives up the ghost during a long cold winter. And you don’t know where the money will come from.
Even in spiritual matters, spiritual challenges show themselves and we immediately jump to fix them. But the question I have for you today, “Did you pray about it?”
Tremaine Hawkins sang, “When you pray everything will be alright.” Somebody else sang, “Take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there. Brothers, we are expected to go forth and till the ground. We are expected to solve problems We are expected to be the leaders that God wants us to be.
But let us never forget as we go about doing what God called us to do that we have a special power. And we need to tap into it. A power that comes from a connection to God through prayer. Start your day in prayer, end your day in prayer. And watch God do through you what you couldn't have done all by yourself.
Prayer
Father, Guide your men. Strengthen your men. And help us never to forget that the ultimate power comes from our connection to you. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
