  1. Through the ages, skeptics and critics have derided the Bible's scientific statements, ridiculed its historicity, scoffed at its prophecies, and laughed at its spiritual authority.

  3. What does the Bible claim to be?
    1. it claims to be inspired by God: All Scripture is given by inspiration of God (2 Tim. 3:16).
    2. it claims to be written by chosen men who were inspired by the Holy Ghost: For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21).
  4. What discoveries have been made that have helped prove the authenticity of the Bible?
    1. The Rosetta Stone discovered in 1799.
    2. The Ebla Tablets that clearly proved that the art of writing did exist long before the time of Moses.
    3. The Dead Sea Scrolls discovered in 1947.
    4. In 1899, Robert Koldewey began excavating the old ruins of Babylon, unearthing tens of thousands of kiln-baked bricks, all bearing the stamp of King Nebuchadnezzar.
    5. The East India House inscription, now in London, devotes six columns of Babylonian writing to a description of the huge building projects of Nebuchadnezzar.
    6. The Cyrus Cylinder that proves that Belshazzar ruled co-jointly with his father in Babylon, just as the Bible said.
    7. Predictions of the future found in the Bible, like the name of Cyrus (who would conquer Babylon, 150 years before his birth (Isaiah 45:1).
